This was my dad. He passed away a couple a years ago due to cancer. I always thought dad was a little bit "off". He explained this to me when I was very young, but I had no way to comprehend it, because I was a child. I was always scared for him 😢

It's not necessary that catatonia only lies in schizophrenic patients. It's also present in major depression, encephalitis, infection, uti, chest infection, also due to antipsychotic.

What does it feel like exactly? Is he having hallucinations like paranoid schizophrenics do? Or is he fully aware that his body is like but he can’t move his bones? Or is he like unconscious / subconscious? I understand that catatonic schizophrenia makes you stay in uncanny body positions but what’s on his mind at the moment?

I wonder is that a side effect from antipsychotics? It took me years to wean off antipsychotics. I'm so glad i can properly use my body and brain together now, although i have serious CNS problems. Coping with stress is often severely debilitating. Natural b complex vitamins, avoiding synthetic supplements, and taking omega 3 fish oil supplements to help repair brain tissue as well as not smoking and breathing through the nose have been the physical body foundations of my recovery. Avoiding stressful people is important too as any stress will keep you stuck. Also raising arms should help deal with clots a bit better.

I used to do this as a kid and my siblings would mess with me and thought I was good at acting like I was frozen
I was suffering minor catatonia because trauma
