A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a virtualized computer that is always connected to the internet with no downtime. For automated trading in forex, you need a computer running MetaTrader software that is continuously online. This ensures your trading operations are uninterrupted.

MetaTrader offers high-performance VPS services for $15 per month. However, if you want to create your own VPS at no cost, it is quite easy to set up. While it's challenging to keep a home computer running all the time due to power and connectivity issues, you can turn an old laptop into a VPS if you can ensure consistent power and internet connectivity. Though technically, your laptop will be a physical machine, it can function similarly to a VPS.

Here’s how you can set up your own personal VPS:

Make sure your laptop is plugged into a power source and has a stable internet connection.
Download and install the necessary software, such as MetaTrader, on your laptop.
Adjust your system settings to prevent it from sleeping or shutting down, ensuring it stays online 24/7.
Set up remote access software so you can manage your VPS from anywhere, I am using AnyDesk for remote access.

I have a reliable power supply and internet connection, so I use my personal computer as a VPS.
