The great and special thing about them is that they are not only fantastic musicians, they are also great songwriter and - most importantly - know how to carry emotions in their music. Petrucci's tone and phrasing is perfect, nobody makes those emotional solos sing like he does, in my opinion.

That has got to be one of the most soulful, gorgeous, guitar solos I've ever heard. Actually, everything about this live version is DT at their most epic. You can even HEAR John Myung in it; he's normally so far back in the mix you'd hardly know they had a bassist.
