For those of you whose SQL Server Services are blank, you have to additionally download the SQL 2008 R2 version. Select "add features to an existing installation" when you're installing

Tip from video: Use a period (.) to choose the default server in the Server Name field.

I just installed a fresh copy of Microsoft SQL SMS. When i try to open "Sql Server Configuration Manager", I'm getting error indicating "Cannot Connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable...." Any solution around this? Thanks.

when I type in the period or even when I write \SQLEXPRESS I get this error message--> Cannot connect to... A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.(provider:Named Pipes Provider, error:40 - could not open a connection to SQL Server)(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:2) Someone help thanks

Make sure you download SQLExpress. The install looks very similar and you may think you have already installed it.
