Actually it does improve performance quite a bit and you can notice on mobile phones, have you "ever" overclocked a phone before? You definitely don't have the right to say those lines, I overclock mobile phones for a living for godsakes.

Overclocking also doesn't heat up your phone as there's a "governor" that only overclocks when it's needed.

Sprint has 4G LTE capable phones and are in the phase of rolling them out so in a way yes but you cannot use it until probably october of this year for most cities in the U.S.

There's no need for a explanation sealight, being able to use the internet through your phone's mobile network is simple enough to understand! Thanks.

Most of the features you get by rooting can also be done by jailbreaking
you can get wifi tethering on both iOS and android as well as SSH etc

Thanks for posting this video up. I'm not used to rooting and I always wondered what the purpose was. This was a simple and clean explanation.

Good video & love your vids. Very helpful for a new user of the Galaxy S2 coming from being a iPhone user since 2007. Just messing around with my S2 so far has been fun with rooting & such.

Rooting is basically like getting the administrator account on your device (just like on your computer). Then loading another ROM is basically like re-imaging your system (just like on your computer..again).

What you're thinking of is unlocking a phone which is different from rooting. As far as unlocking goes you have to have those codes to basically get the phone "unlocked" from the provider. These codes are usually kept confidential (since you can get off a $100 plan from Sprint and hop into a $35 plan with another carrier) and from what I understand can only be generated from the carrier or these websites that act as a middle man. As far as getting the codes for free it depends on your carrier.

It's ONE of the advantages. There are all kinds of things you can do with a rooted phone. Change your cellular modem to get better connection, block ads, install unofficial firmwares with added features, install alternative google apps with customizeable color, change your lcd density, overclock/undervolt your cpu, uninstall annoying preinstalled apps you never use, install apps to sd card to save phone space, install custom The possibilities are almost endless.

I just rooted my S2. Just having that ability to back everything up, control the CPU, the basic reasons for rooting are well worth it. You don't even have to worry about custom ROMS & different kernels. Of course, when the time comes, you have that option as well. Now that I'm rotted.and have backed everything up I'm ready to delve into the whole custom ROMS & kernels. Time to make custom boot animations!

so doesn't over-clocking shorten the life of your cpu?
I mean aint there any drawbacks for that? Thank you in advance.

Damn. In Singapore the data has been reduced from 10GB to 2GB for the monthly subscription plan of $39.90.
If you want more data bundle, you've got to pay more or get a monthly plan that's more expensive.

You need to install a kernel or ROM that supports that much overclocking.
