Man you sure showed us all we can do it!!!! You did amazingly well. You should be proud of yourself. I always seem to have so much self doubt and of course it holds me back. I have my days lol. Thank you so much for sharing with us and can't wait to see what you have to share next!

You did it yourself!!! I haven't done an arch trellis because I didn't think I could do it... that looks amazing, great job!!

I've had several seasons with a similar trellis though we made our more stable not using the pvc fittings and using pvc pipe instead with holes cut into it for our uprights which were metal conduit. My hubby was concerned with the storms we get here that the Josh Sattin trellis wouldn't withstand the winds. My only complaint with the system is that in our experience with indeterminate tomatoes we couldn't just twist them in the string. We had to use clips... which were hard on my hands and a hassle to pull out at the end of the season. This year we are trying the kind where you run the strings horizontally and you weave the plants through them. It will require a daily touch up which is ok this year. Last year we grew 140 tomato plants and this year we're scaling it back to 30. Turns out we don't use tomato products as much as I thought we did, so I still have lots preserved from last year... enough to stretch another year. We ramped up the amount of potatoes and onions we're growing this year because every year we run out before they can go bad. Now if I can just convince hubby that we don't need to grow okra this year!

I’ve done this with several hundred tomato plants, using bamboo trellis. The issue I had in the heat of South Carolina, when running a single stem up a line, there is not enough foliage left on the plant to keep it from burning up. I think it can work, but imo you will need to cover the trellis with shade cloth when the temp gets around 90 degrees. It was not feasible for me to do that with 500 plants so I made concrete wire cages. Good luck!

Hope you have great luck with your garden! We are also trying this trellis method at the farm I work on. We'll have around 350 tomato plants.

You are doing just what I wanted to do but didn't think I had enough sun so didn't do it. I KNOW I couldn't have done it myself but I was clapping for you when you finished! Yea for you! How will you keep the two ends of the trellis top pipe from backing out of their home? I just assumed you would have them go all the way through and then cap them somehow to keep them from backing out. I know because my drapes fell down with my DIY project for this very reason. And of course they waited until I thought I was done to show me the folly of my ways.
