Across the globe, the people of India feel the Wood Owl lives near sacred groves, streams, ponds, and wells. Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, rides an Owl, so if one should fly into the home, it brings prosperity on its wings. In China, Owl has the gifts of prophecy and all-seeing because its head turns a full 270 degrees. Shakespeare was accurate when he wrote, “The owl, night’s herald.” Owl remains symbolic of this role to this day.

The owls? I see a blankness filling the space between the owls and the world around them. They are life separated from life living in a world that does not see them. Perhaps we are all too educated.
