Your hair will only cut if you don't take care of it. You can still braid and do many styles. Just keep it moisturized as you should do anyway

Your hair looks like jelly curled already. I used to have my hair like that and it was easy to manage. Just maintain it and it keeps well. Jerry curl is pretty but like your sister said there is no a lot to do with jerry curl, but it's up to u what u want .
When I got tired of natural hair I texturized my hair instead of paming it.
Which ever u choose to do u will look good in it
