0:59 its danmaku / danmu, its essentially like the comments section except users can post moving comments onto a video that are synchronized to the timeline of the vid. Its like everywhere in Japanese and Chinese commenting systems

Bilibili has archives of certain YouTube videos which is nice when they get taken down or removed (so they don't become lost media) 🐸

I only used bilibili because it has pirated movies they are different laws and those movies can't be taken down legally. China's laws are interesting to say the least.

That flying random Chinese text is how comments work on BiliBili. Comments just fly across the video kinda like a live chat but the video isn't live.

Many people in China use a VPN to access YT so those people will probably continue to use YT. The Chinese that use YouTube are usually English speakers and there's not much Chinese that speak English. Same goes for other East Asian countries like Nippon and Korea. That's why he started making the dubbed and subtitled versions of his vids for that region specifically. There's hundreds of millions potential viewers there that don't speak English.

The running text is a comment, so before YouTube in old days there are a platform (website) to upload video in Japanese (i forget the name) and the comments will become running text like in bilibili, i think bilibili get inspired or something.

*Edit: maybe in china in that time has same feature but idk the website for uploading video on china.
