Exposing 'Calvinism Exposed' Part 3: A Biblical Response to Ron Vietti and Jim Crews

Blog:
It is not often that a local church should have to stand up to the doctrinal stances taught by another local church, and to do so publicly must be done with a great amount of prayer and love. When biblical doctrine is distorted, leading an entire congregation to believe error, a full public response is warranted.
Ron Vietti and Jim Crews of Valley Bible Fellowship (VBF) of Bakersfield recently gave a talk, “A Conversation about Calvinism,” posted on their website as “Exposing Calvinism,” confronting unnamed churches in Bakersfield who teach the five points of Calvinism, also known as the doctrines of grace. The elders of Grace Bible Church of Bakersfield believe that this issue demands a biblical defense from responsible pastors in the area, but it reaches far beyond the current controversy into the foundational beliefs of the teachers and church who initiated this doctrinal attack. We therefore urge you to listen to the three-part series preached by our pastor responding to the original message. We also have made available an electronic book, Exposing “Calvinism Exposed”: A Biblical Response to Ron Vietti and Jim Crews, which is a detailed and well-documented answer to each error presented in Mr. Vietti’s and Mr. Crews’s talk, including an appendix with transcript of the original VBF talk, so as to not misrepresent anything that was stated.
It is with great caution that the Word of God should be proclaimed (James 3:1, Ezekiel 34) and thus in love we ask the leaders of VBF to reconsider what was preached, how it was preached, and the underlining theology. We pray that you, the reader, would take into account the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27) and urge Vietti and Crews to retract the errors that have been presented. As our pastor, Steve Swartz, graciously stated early in his messages, VBF is known for their social care in the community, so we do not want them to hurt their reputation before God and man by teaching error.
