Gen X-er here & we were NOT raised to talk about our feelings. The 1st time I had an anxiety attack, I was at work, 23 years old. I legit thought that I was DYING. I went to the ER & told them that I was having a Heart attack. Chest pains, shortness of breath, dizziness, cold sweat.. I was terrified!
And yes Ma'am - my relationship with GOD makes it possible for me to get up & keep going.

Thank you for reacting and speaking about this subject. I suffer from debilitating panic and anxiety and added autism as an adult. Its hard and being 36 and not being taught what was wrong at an earlier age definitely has effected me now. ANd you are so right as a believer, my relationship with God has been the best medicine to getting through every storm!

Baby boomer here. Have had a lifetime of depression, anxiety, and “pretending”though, to be absolutely honest, now that death has taken my family of origin, I’m alone(and I maintain almost complete isolation), I am better able to manage. Your willingness to be open and honest about your own experiences make me love you even more, dear girl! But I must be honest, Britt…I’m just plain worn out(at age 70) and though I will never invite the “Grim Reaper”in, I WILL welcome his arrival. God has gotten me this far. I want Him to take me the rest of the way. My love and deep compassion to all of my fellow travelers who deal with this often unrelenting inner turmoil everyday. A smile can hide so much!❤️❤️❤️

I have high anxiety disorder, i was diagnosed bipolar at 18, i'll be 40 this year, i got also aADHD, got meds for all this, see a therapist every week, and other stuffs added to my mental disorder. i went to so much shit, i'm glad i'm still here today.i can 100% relate to his message, and it's very well written and delivered.i'm also a songwriter but write in french, i'm swiss, and i never dared write lyrics about my mental health, it's more of a dark kind of poetry, inspired by Baudelaire Or Lamartine. I get this. Struggled with depression since I was a teenager. In my life, I’ve found focusing on helping others, is the answer. Yes, seek therapy and healing, but there is healing in Jesus and He came to serve others. That’s the example I cling to. Look around. Someone needs YOUR help.

I was 58 years old when I found out that the thoughts in my head were anxiety. I thought it was just human to think like me.
Everyone thought this way.
As I got older, I wrote off the racing heart, shaking, cold sweats, and head rushes as low blood sugar.
Then, I took an anxiety test in 2020.
I guess you could say I aced it.
My first thought was that this is impossible. Men don't have anxiety.
That was the way I was taught.
Anxiety was a woman's thing.
I made an appointment with a psychiatrist.
The questions she asked me were nearly identical to the internet questionnaire, and the results were identical.

I’m in my 70’s and a Gemini. I have had anxiety since I was 8 years old. There was no one to talk to so I grew up telling others that I am at least two people and probably more since I am a Gemini. I have been on medication for many years but it doesn’t make anxiety go away, it just helps me mask it. I have been saved for many years and GOD helps me hang on when nothing else is working.. It helps hearing someone verbalize what I can not.

I was born in 1966 so growing up mental health was not to be talked about. Even in schools, if you acted out you got paddled, if you were just staring out the window the teacher would embarrass you. If you were different you were picked on.
My therapy was being a songwriter, I have a bunch of dark songs and my poetry is Edgar Allen Poe level. Being a musician has saved my life more than once.

I deal with anxiety daily, uncontrollable and sometimes debilitating. I too lean on Jesus, to lead me through the days and nights. Without his strength I would be unable to maintain my job amongst other things. Christ got me through more than I can describe, he is there for everyone. All you need to do is call on his precious name.

Jesus, for anyone struggling with mental health issues: anxiety, depression, etc. you know their needs and you know their hearts. I ask the Holy Spirit to enter their homes and lives, show them the light and cleanse them with the blood of the lamb to make them whole again. In this that they will find you Christ Jesus as the true reason for life! I pray this in Jesus name, Amen!

Excellent flow and deep message. If you're feeling overwhelmed, seek help. There's only so much anyone can do, but understand that there are folks out there who want to help. Clayton reminded me of a line from Romans 7:19: "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing."
