Keeping free ranging chickens is so much more humane. That’s a great way to keep the birds healthy. I can’t imagine how you keep predators from getting to them.

Are chicken mites a problem in connection with the Millennium Feathernet? This question arises for me because I live in a very mild region in Austria where there is an abundance of birds and therefore a lot of chicken mites. We have chickens in the city and my husband tells everyone they are they best eggs. They have a huge yard to run around and are happy. We get enough for our family and once a month I'll freeze fritatas. I like your set up and might try somethings like this that doesnt move. I need a new coop but maybe a lean to would work. My birds prefer to be out and they sleep on a strip of wood by our dog house because they think they belong to his flock and he patrols at night and if they are close to him they survive better. In city still have possum, owls, racoons, and a fox that keeps coming trying to sneek in a few times, but thankfully, our dog is always ended up between the fox and the chickens. I can see from my room at night the whole backyard. Think the chickens also like to sleep where they doo instead of in their pen or coop is because they can see me through the window and one especially loves to talk to me and get my attention in the window so ill come cuddle her.

I noticed the foldable bars on the nest boxes. Do you fold those up in the evening to keep the chickens from nesting in the nest boxes and then let them down every morning

What breeds are you using. I recognize the barred rocks, but not the dark headed reds.

We have a small area of land with 12 chickens but we keep them in an enclosed wire-mesh dome structure. We've had a lot of trouble with land predators, anyone have good ideas to combat this?

so what routine do you have. you close the nests at night for clean eggs. Other people put them enclosed at night for safety and lay eggs at night. Is it okay?
