👉 Learn how to divide polynomials by a monomial using the long division algorithm. A monomial is an algebraic expression with one term while a polynomial is an algebraic expression with more than one term.
To divide a polynomial by a monomial using the long division algorithm, we divide each term of the polynomial (dividend) with the monomial (divisor) to get the quotient. We will then multiply the divisor by the quotient and subtract the result from the dividend. This process is repeated until the divisor can no longer divide into the dividend.
The result after subtracting the product of the last term of the quotient and the divisor is the remainder when the divisor divides the original polynomial.
