A ride of the Santorini Cable Car from Thira down to the Old Port. Also seen from the tender boat just before reaching the port.

The Santorini Cable Car was established in 1979 by the "Loula and Evangelos Nomikos Foundation", funded by Evangelos Nomikos, a ship owner and resident of Santorini. Construction started in 1980 and was completed two years later. It provides access between Thira, Santorini's capital at an altitude of 220 meters and the Old Port. The cable car has six cabins and can transport up to 1,200 persons per hour. Journey from one end to another takes only 3 minutes. The current cable car system was built by Doppelmayr from Austria, with the cabins manufactured by CWA Constructions (part of Doppelmayr) from Switzerland in 1999.
