Can you receive social security and social security disability?

The Social Security Administration offers two disability programs. One is called SSI or Supplemental Security Income. The other is called SSDI or Social Security Disability Insurance. On SSDI, the amount you receive each month is called your PIA, your Primary Insurance Amount, whereas on SSI, the amount you get every month we refer to as your FBR, the Federal Benefit Rate.

You're going to get different amounts. On SSDI, how much you get will depend on how much you have worked and how much you have paid into the system.
