Crazy that a 5 year old card can run games maxed out with other modern hardware of course, but if you built say a $1, 500 rig back then I'm sure you can still play games at mid to high settings at 60fps for the next year or so until you have to upgrade again.

Just got a sweet deal on one. Changing from my trusty 670 to the 980 with waterblock and backplate got it for £140. The price seems to be consistent with last year if not higher i couldn't find one cheaper than £135 which I think is still a steal for such a performance jump. Great card can't wait to get my hands on it

If anyone's curious, you can get a 3770k for $75-100 and GTX 980 for $100-125 USD or 980ti for $125-150. This will easily get you 60FPS+ Ultra/High graphics on most games at 1080p. Probably the best budget PC you could build right now for under $600.

I bought a EVGA GTX 980 Superclocked on OfferUp for $150 US, in October, 2018, used it for a year until selling it in December, 2019 for $120. I only upgraded cause of Red Dead Redemption 2, literally you can pick up a 980 for around $100 and is a great deal and still gives “mid-range” performance in 2020 games, totally still recommend getting this card if you find one for around $100 which is common

i have a gtx 960 2g and i am looking for either a 980/980ti now i play older titles asin 2000-2015 so i feel this upgrade would be good sadly the 980ti's are rare asf in my country BUT the 980 is my backup option here so i love that it's still a beast even in 2020 and also with how new parts are evolving i feel getting this card and waiting till 2023 to by an entire new setup is smart. good vid btw cheers.

Still using one myself. Reference blower design in a tiny mini-ITX chassis. Never cleaned it either or applied custom paste. Will do soon though as I will sell it and upgrade.

Dang, Quantum Break runs at a consistent 60fps 1080p on high settings with the GTX980 I bought back in 2015. I wonder what they did during Control's development to have it so poorly optimized? Thanks for making this though, it shows me I don't really need to upgrade just yet to play most games that came out last year.

Can you make some tests with VALORANT? In Practice Room, Playing solo all the 3 maps (each map you can run 1 minute for the test) and playing some matches 5v5 (all those tests in a single video)? You can specify thats its from BETA version in the title, than after you can also make a new video from the launch version.
