The dynamite being updated from a print is similar to Han Solo in carbonite. That used to be a tall brick with a print on it, but now it's a super specialized mold.

Now, I'll say this in defense of the dynamite tile. It was introduced with a technic spring attached to a wall that would explode outward when you slid the tile in a slot that pushed the spring up, unleashing the tension. It was a lot of fun.

Well, the dynamite was definitely an improvement. The compass, well I guess it depends on if you were fine with a minifigure holding one that was way too latge for them, and if you're kid was smart enough to not swallow it or not. And the faucet I'm pretty sure the chrome would chip off and look worse over time.

The compass piece is really helpful, just imagine the fun in using an extremely small compass in a survival situation

Lego could have solved the magnet issue all by making the arrow spin freely. It would take away from the realism aspect of it being a working compass, but then again, it's meant for play not expeditions

About the dynamite print part. I recognize this. I remember that I played the Lego Creators on the computer. good times

The dynamite printed tile activated some very old, very tired neurons in my brain reminding me that there used to be a whole range of Wild West-themed LEGO with cowboys, bandits, dynamite, revolvers etc that I almost never think about when I remember my childhood LEGOs.

That compass was specifically made for the Pirates of the caribbean sets
