Yes, the Xavi change of direction move can also be used as a 1v1 move.

Personally I always begin with ball mastery exercises as they are so important to improve your touch, coordination and balance. I will then focus on a specific skill (1v1, turns, receiving etc). Typically my individual training will be 30 minutes as it's important to train effectively at a good tempo. If there is anything specific you want to work on let me know and I can assist you with a training routine.

Practice the 'Messi' dribbles through the cones as well as rolling the ball and other ball mastery exercises you can apply. When going through the cones go as fast as you can whilst maintaining control (try not to touch any cone) and accelerate to the end cone when you have finished the technique. To increase difficulty add more cones or place them closer together. This will improve your control/technique in tight areas.

Thanks man. I would say that I could really use some help receiving and playing in tight spaces (eg. With 2-3 players around you).

Ideally if you're going to work on receiving the ball you need somebody passing the ball to you. I am planning on making tutorials on this subject in the future. In my training I place 5 cones down (2 yards apart) and then a cone 5-7 yards at either end. Go in-between the cones just using your right foot and accelerate to the end cone. Then with your left, with both feet, rolling through. You can also practice toe taps changing direction. I am thinking of making a tutorial on this?

My season just finished 1 month ago and preason starts middle of August. So on Mondays- Wednesdays- Fridays I'm going to do cardio and on Tuesdays- Thursdays- Saturdays I'm going to the fields and doing the workout you gave me and practice 1v1 moves

The more you practice the better you will get! 3-4 times per week is fine or you could do it on the days when you're not training with your team or have matches. Also consider using it as a warm-up.

Sorry I meant 2 foot apart! Your touches between cones will vary when using 1 foot and both feet. Aim to get through the cones as quickly as possible keeping control. You will notice you will be using the inside and outside of your foot, sometimes single touches and sometimes 2-3 smaller touches to keep control. This essentially is the 'Messi' dribble but with obstacles, just like in the game!

2 yards apart seems a little to far apart? Do I do only 1 rep per cone or as many as possible between each cone?

Should I replace the messi dribbles I'm already doing with the cone drills?

SkittlesVSnickers

Should I just continue the cone dribbles and try to increase speed?

Any "how to shoot" videos coming soon Coach?

Do I do the workout everyday? Could I just do it 3-4 times a week?

LOL I actually did all these moves way before Xavi became famous because I couldn't do Zidane's Marseille turn properly xD
