Amid an outbreak of the coronavirus within the White House that has affected President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and a number of senior aides, Vice President Mike Pence said the "American people have a right to know about the health and well-being of their president."
During the first and only vice presidential debate between Pence and California Sen. Kamala Harris on Oct. 7, Pence commended the treatment that the president received during his three-night stay at Walter Reed hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. The comments come as the administration faces accusations of attempting to hide specifics about the president's condition and the timing of the positive coronavirus tests for those who are within the president's orbit.
Pence and Harris met face-to-face for their first debate hosted by the University of Utah in Salt Lake City with less than a month until voting concludes.
