I boght a few Fox, MKM, and Lionsteel knives that had a lower than expected HRC. Its too bad, the designs are nice and well made. I haven't been back for years.

@neeves knives Jerad, why don’t you use the magnification as much anymore? Did it break out is it just inconvenient?

What is the website you use with the steel attribute ratings? Also, I have the 140 and 400 grit atoma plates as well. Absolutely love those things, hair popping sharp right off the 400. The 140 makes rebeveling a simple chore. Very durable, I have not been nice to mine and no issues at all. Highly reccomend, they are the bread and butter of any sharpening setup. The only other stone in my system is a Venev Dragon F400/F800.

I've had lion steel and viper on the softer side, the fox knives have always been good for me, at least my examples anyhow, although my spyoprah in m390 was heat treated well

Everything I have got from Italy has been soft. But I heard here recently they are addressing their heat treatment and raising hrc on a couple of steels!

I got a question. Cheaper kitchen knifes have difficulties to reach such level of sharpness because they are made of shitty steel or what ? Cos i feel those supersteels can be pushed much further. Thanks in advance. 😊
