Video Information: “I don’t know how to be an “adult”
In this video I wanted to chat about expectations related to adulthood, and how I have, in some ways, not been able to live up to some of them. I’m quite disorganized and don’t work well under pressure. I am often told I am “childlike” in nature. I still enjoy many interests and activities I loved as a child, and in some ways, that has made others online speculate over my maturity or wonder if I have not accepted adulthood. In response, I wanted to share another perspective, that embracing who I am helps me be a more successful and content adult. I hope you enjoy this and share your own thoughts.

I suck at "adulting" and my mom calls it "Peter Pan syndrome" because I've just haven't really left my childish state of wonder. I'm made happy by the simplest things, lose touch with this reality and let my imagination wander. I'm so glad I found your channel and know I'm not the only one

Growing up isn't learning to be mature all the time, but learning when the right time to be mature comes

In this video I wanted to chat about expectations related to adulthood, and how I have, in some ways, not been able to live up to many of them. I’m quite disorganized and don’t work well under pressure. I am not efficient or even good at being productive (I cannot even follow a schedule, to be honest). I still don’t feel like I know what I’m doing half the time. I am often told I am “childlike” in nature. I still enjoy many interests and activities I loved as a child. This has made others online speculate over my maturity or wonder if I have not accepted adulthood. In response, I wanted to share another perspective, that embracing who I am helps me be a more successful and content adult. I hope you enjoy this little ramble and share your own experiences ❤

People who falsely accuse you of being “ childish “ are secretly jealous, that you have learned how to take breaks and enjoy life, because they, sadly, have forgotten how to feel joy, or relief. Encouraging one’s own joy is a skill and a discipline. Good job creating this space for yourself, and encouraging it in everyone. ❤

Oh honey. I am 68 and still love children’s books and enchanted forests and fairy circles. I still look for little holes at the bottom of trees and picture a little family of some sort sitting inside vesting their dinner. Never change. It is a wonderful way to be. My friends all say that the minute they see any little woodland creature with a family they know it’s me that posted it. I’m so glad I’ll be remembered that way. ❤

If adulting means rushing around every single moment of the day being too busy to notice the world around us and being stuck in jobs we hate, then you can keep it. I am so inspired by Paola and the life she built for herself that allows her to live at a more moderate pace, just as nature intended. Love your videos. Living my ideal life vicariously through you ❤

I'm a 65 year old male that struggled to fit into the world, now I'm glad I can't. Bless you young lady, love from Tennessee.

It's a damn shame that the world is in such a state that being genuine and true to one's self is actively discouraged.
Do your own thing girl! We need more people like you these days!

There is a world of difference between childlike and childish. To be childlike, I believe, is to be human, to wonder at creation, to play, to be curious and explore—all virtuous traits. To be childish is to lack responsibility. It appears that you are responsible, industrious, and conscientious. On another note, I will say that I never grew up until I had children. It is such a beautiful and heavy weight to carry.

I'm 26 almost 27 and I often don't "feel like an adult"

Adulthood is seen as paying bills, working jobs, setting goals and all other stressful things. When really....we're just here to live. To just experience and learn.

Reality is just an illusion and is whatever we make it. Also....we're really only living for ourselves. People's words are just words unless we put meaning to it.

So just do what makes you happy. It's your life to live, nobody else's.

Sometimes, people respond negatively to someone when they themselves feel challenged by how that person lives and relates to the world. You're doing just fine.

This seems like a perfect opportunity for my favorite quote from Doctor Who: "There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes."

You're not alone, Paola. I'm in my 50's and still what many would consider "childish". I take my time, as you do, enjoy nature to the fullest, and love children's books, just to name a few. We are very similar in tastes and disposition. That's what attracted me to your channel. The beauty, calm and child-like joy of living and appreciating nature that you share is a wonderful thing our modern world needs more of.

I'm often called a child because I love spending so much time with my parents as an adult. It's wild what some people can shame you for. ❤❤

The adult world is so overwhelming I would not survive mentally if I didn't live in my own little world and in touch with my childhood. I can relate so much with you and the comments make me happy. Glad I am not the only one. ❤️ You voice my inner thoughts one by one.

As an almost 76 year old, an introvert living in my home built in 1907, I love the validation and inspiration I find in your videos. While I admire tremendously your enchanting art, my talents lie elsewhere as I sit with my paper quilling or jelly making (I just made watermelon jelly that my 10 year old great-niece asked me to make), I find great encouragement and joy and support in your words and your videos. Thank you and I encourage you to keep inspiring all of us!

I'll be 50 this year. It took me a long time to realize that no one knows ever really "grows up" or even knows what they're doing. We're all just fumbling along through our "adult" years. You're fine. ❤
