Field Marshal Montgomery's new Raigmore medley debuts in Inverness at the European Championships

Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band is led by Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE and the Drum Sergeant is Keith Orr. Here the band is performing its Raigmore medley at the RSPBA's European Pipe Band Championships. A suitable venue too as Raigmore is an area of Inverness, perhaps best known for its important hospital. The word is apparently derived from the Gaelic an Ràthaig Mhòr a fortified dwelling.

The band's medley comprises the following:

Raigmore
Lady Madelina Sinclair
The Stone Cutters Phoenix
Drumbruie
Wanda J Samson
Fiona MacDonald,
Tommy and Ronnies' Double Tonic
Mrs McPherson of Inveran

The competition judges for Grade One were:
Robert Mathieson, piping
John Wilson, piping
David Brown, drumming
Donald MacPhee, ensemble

The weather was hot and mostly sunny but the strong, blustery wind was problematic for sound recording.

Let's all take a minute to think on how judges can justify 2 3rds in piping for this and 3rd overall🤦🏽‍♂️. It's absolutely ludicrous. Poor and baised judging has been a thorn in the side of the pipe band world for years now and now many people have the courage to speak up
When will the bands recieve fair judging. Thank goodness I don't play anymore. Anyway with the rant over that was beautiful and a warmth to the ears.👏🏽 fantastic recording D.C.
