As a chelsea fan, I have to say I disagree with a lot here. That chelsea team was very good defensively but a lot of times lacking in the final third. Rudiger and Thiago silva are obvious. Reece James I would say ties with current Reece but if you want to say the injuries makes past better ig I understand. Imo cucarella better than chilwell, the reason fot chilwell being out currently is not that chilwell gotten worse, he just fits the system less and is overall worse than cucu. Mendy was a great shotstopper but not good at all with his feet so that l depends mainly on the system. I would take enzo over Jorghinhio, barely, but can understand otherwise. Kante in that season was obviously better than moises but even one or two years later that gap shortened extremely. I would put palmer in the middle over mount (even though I live mount😔). Pulisic was not great but had his moments, I think it's too early to decide in this one because we haven't really seen enough of Neto just yet. Ziech was not good at chelsea, I would take Noni over him but maybe there is someone else I am forgetting from the past squad. Havertz is great now and I am very happy for him but he was okay at best back then, with his only highlights being that winning goal and a subpar scorimg record. Jackson had 15 in his first season, but also more creative teamates who supplied better chances so that's also hard to tell. Personally I would take current Jackson over past Kai but not over present Kai.
Wrote kind of a long one here, It just bothered me howbin there mind that Chelsea team was incredible even though they struggled a lot too. Maybe I just have recency biased and want to believe in the current squad🤷‍♂️.

That Chelsea team won that UCL thanks to their elite defence and solid midfield, but I would actually argue that current Chelsea's attack is better bar Pulisic. Jackson has already outscored Havertz in a season and could do even better this season, Nkunku vs Mount is actually pretty close imo, and Cole Palmer is better than Ziyech no debate there (even though I really like Ziyech too)
If UCL Chelsea had the attack of current Chelsea I think that UCL run would've been a walk in the park. I mean seriously, despite the absolutely chaotic season Chelsea had last season under Poch they still managed to score the most goals Chelsea ever have in one season since their 16/17 title run.
