Jokes aside, just goes to show how hard your parents and grandparents worked so you could live a safer and happier life. Best wishes to you all!

The sacrifices are immense. Love to all the parents that did the hardest parts so their children would have a better future.

"Is an engineer. But not sure it's my passion."

My mother listened to her 4 month old brother cough to death from pneumonia while cradled in her mother's arms. They were starving & hiding in a cave in the mountains with her family because they had to run from the Communists. There were no doctors, no medicine. So whenever she heard my sister or me cough at night, she'd bust in kool-aid man yeeeeaaahhhh!" style, breathless & bullshit, yelling at us, with NyQuil in one hand & a candy in the other. I realized it was from the trauma in her past. 😔

“is an engineer but unsure if it's her passion” most relatable thing as an Asian

True story when I was still living in Asia. My mom sold my dog to my neighbor. Went home from school and was invited by that same neighbor to eat so I did. Went home after that and looked for my dog. My
mom told me that she sold it to my neighbor. My mind went dark. I didn’t talk to my mom for a month.

I love how the most traumatic element for one of your family members was that they had a bowl haircut until age 5 lol

Honestly this is a wonderful thing! The ultimate dream for a parent is for their child to be safer and happier than they were, and your parents seem like nice people so I bet they’re really happy your problems are a little more on the frivolous side 😂

The horror stories my grandmother had on immigrating to Ellis island from Russia. Her family went from wealthy Russia, state officials to boiling bones for food overnight. Crazy how only a generation or two and a new country can radically change your life. She still did some really strange things like drive around with a goat in the back of her car for no reason.
