We really need to rethink our tax system

I know none of us like paying taxes, but they've got to be paid. It is important for our society.

However, we (the larger, royal 'we') shouldn't be paying as much as we do.

If you carefully consider the source of tax revenue and compare that where the real wealth is in any given first world nation, you realise we are not taxing people efficiently. The average person pays far more than they should, while large companies and high net worth individuals unconscionably minimise if not entirely avoid tax obligations.

They are not paying their fair share.
