Hey! Been a while and I'm sure everyone can't wait to be done with school but here we are. This is a brief take on the evolution of school in The Sims and ohh boy, is school very complex. There's lots of little aspects I didn't include here and I'm sure you're all gonna tell me stuff I didn't know but I think I covered the basics well enough.

So what's your take on school? It's one of those things I'm almost sure every player experiences at some point and to me it was always kinda like the background thing, I'm always busier making the kids learn skills so I learned a few things here and there.

My opinion?

Sims 1 is just the base, as always, I feel like it was the hardest and the easiest at the same time just because of how easy it is to earn and lose grades, as far as gameplay goes it's...there.

Sims 2 having weekdays and homework made the whole difference, kids actually take breaks and the player is more involved with school work, as far as extras go, I loved private school, it doesn't do much but it's a fun minigame which I always played.

Sims 3, or I should say generations, was quite packed with content, most of it is a little shallow cause half of the cool stuff they introduced like proms, pranks and graduations, are just things that are hidden inside a rabbithole, but hey, it's still nice. On a little note, the grounded feature is broken and I don't understand why they didn't fix it... at least in my game?

Sims 4 to me is a clear downgrade so far, maybe it's because of my first impression which was them taking the iconic bus out, but it's been almost 7 freaking years and the school experience has barely been improved, you can gain values while at school with parenthood, the addition of school projects was very cool, I like that they ask you to get new skills cause it can be useful later on and I obviously love that kids who did better can start a career at a higher level, but everything else? It's just alright.

So in this my order goes Sims 3, Sims 2, Sims 4 and Sims 1 just because of the extra features, the core gameplay is very similar in most games if you ask me, but that's just my opinion. Let me know what you think and I'll see you on the next one, I'm still debating if it will be Gnomes or something else.

Sounds about right

somehow it's weird that the more technology improve, the less animation we got.

I like how the bus in sims 3 just pops up and then drives recklessly

Sims 2 Bus Driver: casual as ever
Sims 3 Bus Driver: **Tokyo Drifts the bus into a 180 and speeds to school not losing speed**

What I miss in the sims 4 that were in the sims 3 :
- kids recognising their step parents
- Sims recognising their family in law
- Being able to choose the colour I want my clothes, hair, objects etc … to be
- Being able to go on a ride with babies on a pusher and carrying them out of their cradle
- Having horses
- THE OPEN WORLD
- Cars
- Garages
- Geniuses and fairies
- Being able to choose more than 3 personality trait and the fact they would have an impact on the gameplay : clumsy sims would stumble and die weirder compare to other sims
- Being able to choose my star sign, my favorite colour, dish, music …
- Ushers and thieves
- Being able to choose how long a season would last and how long my sims could live (for each step and each season)
-Feeding my fish in the aquarium
- Having home phones
- Being able to see every aspect of the map
-cemeteries
- having the cause of death written on the tombs
- Curfew for teens
- Being able to teach teenagers how to drive
- Being able to scold teenagers and forbid them to go out
That’s the reason why even tho I’ve got every single sims 4 extension pack, game pack and kits I would always prefer sims 3 over sims 4 …
I just feel like sims 4 is a regression of the game, even though they do their best to ameliorate the gameplay, I’d never be the same.
Like remember when there was no toddlers …

OMG, the Sims 2 is so detailed! I'm mainly a Sims 3 player and I forgot the busdriver used to wave at you. That's such a cute detail 😭

Sims 2: taken into foster care
Sims 3: affect what traits they get when they are older
Sims 4: child is yeeted to the void by sparkles

I like how the bus lady waved at the kid when she got on the bus. Sims 2 team were so great with details that they even gave life to such minor NPC. Those were the days…

Okay...Going to military school, being taken away from parents by social worker ... litterally made me scared, I remember how my school life was a nightmare, learning from the early morning and stayed up late till 1 AM just to learn many subjects ' by heart ', ewwww...

From a school bus to the void. How sad of a DEvolution.

My favorite part of the Sims 2/3 was when you got a teen grounded by their parents and they get angry if the teenager leaves home to go to school. But if you obbey and let the teenager at home, they would be angry because the teen missed school.

The kid getting sent to military school if they get bad grades is so brutal, omg. Sims 1 was on another level. Also, the kid rushing home to show their parent their good grades in Sims 2 is sooo cute. I wish they had that in Sims 4

Sims 3 had the best school system for me! So rich. I loved playing as a teen because of it.

6:33 I lost it when she goes to find a parent and RUNS past her dad... didn't even spare him a glance. You can really tell who the favorite parent is x'D RIP
Also in Sims 4 the badly raised kids just VANISH are you kidding me 😭😭 they couldn't even code a social worker???
