John, in my competitive shooting experience I have heard a phrase "Smooth looks slow, but smooth is fast". You are so right to slow down some and that will smooth your path. All the best for 2017.

The best thing you said in this video "avoid business partners"

"I need to slow down" says the guy wearing the floor out. lol Premium finishes on a multi insert facemill is problematic. That is why they make ones with wiper inserts so there is no need to dial in every insert every time you replace inserts. You should try setting one insert .005 to .010 low. Blaze thru ypir passes as normal until your last pass then cut your feed rate down by like 10 times on your final pass. If you are removing an amount within the capabilities of the cutter then your 1st pass is your finish pass. A slower feedrate on every part is likely faster than fooling with trying to get every insert dialed in to less than .0005 to get a great finish.

John.
Your comment on slow is fast, many many years ago I used to race open wheel formula ford 1600 at Donington park when you went smooth and easy your lap times where faster, because you where more efficient and more accurate with your car position, just a thought that came to mind

Keep up the videos always a great view

Thanks for finding the time to still make awesome videos, John. Having never been in business for myself, I was intrigued by your comment on partnership and debt. Perhaps you might expand on those ideas in another chip break? I think it would be interesting to examine your thought process on those positions. Ciao, Marco.

John, I remember I had a huge project and in the past I would work dawn to dusk on large projects but this time because we were talking months instead of a week or so I decided to do things different. One of the biggest things is I treated more like a job. I worked 6 days a week at. 7 to 4 or 5 with a lunch break at noon. This took allot of the stress that I normally enjoyed but also would have worn me thin on such a large project. Life was much better. I love to work hard but this would have burned me out. Like you said, hard as an entrepreneur.

Big thumbs up. you are correct "you tube success" mainly has to do with great content. I have learned so much watching your channel. It's been very cool seeing a real small buisness grow over the years. keep it up!

A great trick to reduce your procurement loop is use 1 vendor to purchase all your material, we use EMJ for 95%, don't try to shop around, just buy, the $.76 you save is not worth the 2 hours of your time. Buying precut material on a pallet is great, no sawing. Dido on tools find a single vendor and just buy from them. You need to let them know what you're doing and if you get over charged, you're going somewhere else. Letting go of things is hard, but you have to do it, have some one stock your tool cabinet, and tool boxs. You need to have someone else do it so you can do important things, like play with your kids.

John, another inspiring video. I don't know how you do all the work you mentioned along with the video editing and responding to comments, emails etc. Amazing efficiency. BTW, I would love to see occasional drive by video's of what Jared and others are doing in the background. Hearing them work makes curious.

What is the point of having to "claibrate" inserts? Why dosent Sandvik inserts calibrate themselvs in the arbor? Dont wanna miscredit them but isent that their job that your tool offers the best finish from start? Im just wonderering.... A little note to you John coming from one that have tried byrning out. Scedule time for yourself and wife/kids.every day, AND STICK TO IT! Dont have to be long time, but remember doing it every day no matter what. Just my 50 cents. Kind regards Gert

The Chip Break series is one of my favorites. Your humility and enthusiasm shine through, and you always offer advice that almost anyone can use. Keep it up John!
