Shane Douglas THROWS AWAY the NWA Title, ECW becomes EXTREME!

August 27, 1994 - Then EASTERN Championship Wrestling hosted a one-night tournament for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. The finals would be won by The Franchise Shane Douglas - who promptly threw the title to the ground and announced a new era of ECW. Eastern Championship Wrestling would withdraw from the NWA and rebrand Extreme Championship Wrestling immediately.
