Do you have MS & difficulty walking down the stairs 🚶‍♀️?! Here's 7 tips to make it easier (from an MS-specialized physical therapist 👩‍⚕️):

1️⃣ Hinge your hips backward before reaching for the next step. This can help you feel more stable.

2️⃣ Reach for the lower step with your weaker leg FIRST!

3️⃣ Put your body weight in your heels. This will prevent you from feeling like you'll fall forward.

4️⃣ Focus on bending your knee more. Yes, this will be really hard, but it can reduce tripping.

5️⃣ Hold on to the railing (but don't DEPEND on it, if possible).

6️⃣ Keep your feet hip distance apart. The closer your feet are, the more unbalanced you'll feel.

7️⃣ Land with your toes FIRST!

These are some common tips that help my clients with weakness and poor balance caused from multiple sclerosis 🧡 feel more stable & in control when walking down stairs.

Feel free to try just one tip, or a few, or all of them!
