Thanks bro. Nile Rodgers is playing guitar on this demo version of the song. Rodgers co-produced the song and transformed it from Bowie's original folk-rock version to a funky dance song. Stevie Ray Vaughan plays a bluesy solo on the version that was released.

New to me too, Tre - I love hearing this! It doesn’t supplant the released version, but it has other charms.
But of course it’s missing the later bass part, and of SRV’s gtr. But it’s crisp & clean & funky

I remember your first FIRST setup, and even though the sound wasn’t great, I kept coming back. Ok now this Bowie demo is fascinating. Just him and Stevie Ray mixed in clear as bells. Interesting!

SRV played the guitar solo on this, but didn't get the credit. I think you'd like David on Soul Train in '75 doing "Fame"' and "Golden Years."

Apparently the radio edit shortens the original demo by three minutes give or take a few seconds.
