Bill's Construction Tip, Make your new bricks look old

Bill offers construction tips about a technique that you can use to make new bricks have the appearance of being old. In this home, the owner wanted the home to have an old European appearance. By applying the mortar using the Slush and Brush technique, this can be achieved.

Absolutely not the same bricks. I’m a builder. I’m not saying the old looking ones aren’t new, I’m saying they’re a different colour. You don’t change the colour by brushing off the mortar.

Good question. The Brick Companies can apply a mixture of minerals and clay to the front surface to get the colors that show only on the face of the brick. The slush and brush treatment completes the look.
