Banjo Lesson For Beginners - Strumming #shorts #banjo

Here is a short lesson for beginner banjo players. It's a strumming pattern called "clawhammer." The clawhammer pattern uses no banjo picks. Instead, you strum the strings with your pointer fingernail and thumb.

The pattern is often called the "Bump Ditty" pattern. When you strum the strings you can say the syllables "Bump-Di-tty" to help learn the correct rhythm.

This beginner banjo style is great for playing country, bluegrass, and old time music.

I hope that you enjoy this video!

Damn, I wish I could get anything close to the sound you're making. Guess Dad's old banjo goes back into the attic...

Do you use the whole of your pointer finger or a main part more or less? My apologies if the question isn’t phrased correctly
