Lee analyzed his own game on his YouTube channel in Korean. According to his channel he knew that Rde1 is not good move and Nc6 was the only good move for white. So he only studied the lines after Nc6 (before Rde1, the position was in his opening preparation). This is why he does not spend any time before castling. And after castling and some forcing moves, he realized that castling is huge blunder. This is why he spent more than 1 hour for one move.

"it's even worse" = up 3 pawns
vs
up a rook, bishop and pawn 🙂

And this is why I love your channel. You go to so much trouble to find the best games for us to experience. You're the best, Agad.

As a longtime Korean follower of yours, I'd never expect you to analyze a game played by a Korean player, as chess is quite unpopular in Korea at the high level. Thanks fir the treat!

9:12 variation: why would you play Rxa8? Surely Rxf8+ Kxe7 (what else?) Rxa8 wins an extra piece and leaves you a R & B up for nothing?

9:12 why not capture the knight on F8 wih check and get both pieces?

"If you capture the Knight, ...we don't even have an expression for being up so much material."

"If you capture the Bishop, it's even worse... White is up three pawns."

You heard it here, folks. Being down three pawns is even worse than being down a Rook and Bishop.

1:52 I will admit that I had to put the first few moves into the engine to discover WHY 8. ... Qxb2 blunders the Queen. Turns out 9. Na4 traps it, and yes, I should have seen that without help.

Rookie here. At 11:54 what happens if the pawn on H6 takes out the bishop on G5? Doesn't the king escape?

When an opponent has an overwhelming material lead, the player is said to be in, _"Guggugnodrodisch."_
