The Stars and Stripes Forever (Sousa) - Fiedler, Boston Pops

This march is the centerpiece composition by American John Philip Sousa (1854-1932), the 'March King'. It was composed in 1897 while on a trans-Atlantic voyage, and upon arrival, Sousa wrote down the music, of which he then never changed a note. (From album notes)

Straight from the 1971 vinyl. For entertainment purposes only--I own nothing here.

My parents took us to the Esplanade every Fourth of July to hear Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. In those days there were not the crowds of today and you could drive in about 6:00 PM, park on the street and find a good spot on the green.

This record and this march used to open and close the broadcasting days of radio station RBA in Portugal from 1974 till 2003!
