I’ve watched it twice and recommend it to everyone! The amount of waste generated is frightening. It’s not just about Amazon. It’s showing you companies that are destroying unsold products rather than sell them cheaply. Food wasted, that could have been given to the homeless. The list goes on and on. Watch it and make up your own mind.

Watch it and make your own opinion. Produce to consume. It shouldn't be played down by someone who doesn't agree with the film.

It is never too late.

You might not care about this strong message but I will be dead by the time this gets out of hand. Our children will have to deal with this waste, sooner or later.

A lot of people actually don't know what's happening. It's quite depressing, yes. But important.

That documentary was eye-opening. I don’t think everybody knew the consequences of consumerism and the extent of damage it has caused and will cause. It is not “too late”. I don’t think it was aimed at somebody like you who doesn’t want to do anything about the issue in hand. May be you will continue to buy more. I don’t think everybody will do the same. I don’t think they said get involved in government either - it was this prior marketing executive from Amazon who said she is trying to get into government to make the right impact. I am sorry to say but watching your video was a complete waste of time snd rather disappointing!

Thank you for putting this together and sharing your thoughts!

What the discussion failed to emphasize is that the root of the problem lies in the incentives created by a society organized around shareholders. Shareholders are primarily focused on boosting share prices. If that dynamic doesn’t change, nothing else will. Eliminating capital markets—both debt and equity—and corporations is key to reorienting society to be human-centric. For example, in a system of human partnerships, it wouldn’t be about an amorphous group of shareholders seeking growth for growth’s sake. Instead, local businesspeople would collaborate with community members, fostering a more harmonious and sustainable approach to business.

The "purpose" is to let people who don't already know, or don't know the extent of the problem, that WHERE OUR MONEY GOES MATTERS, and we can make different choices individually, even if we can't get involved politically... Nihilism is really not a helpful perspective to come at an issue that requires proactive choices to have even a slim chance of making a difference... Learning is NEVER a waste of time.

It is not right to say "don't watch it as you will feel powerless", it's about watching it, feel powerless and then coming over to thinking of ideas to reduce our compulsive consumerism and subsequent massive waste generation, which is actually what causes the issue at hand, one of which would be not buying from companies which openly lie about ecological waste disposal, or those who try to save money by not doing whatever they could be doing to reduce their impact on the environment, which leads us back to us, our way of thinking of our planet (in fact, our only home), ourselves and our dressing, eating and in general consuming habits.

But will people break their addiction to consumerism and the cheapest crap they can find? If not, there's not much else we can do. These companies are catering to that demand and preference even if in a manipulative way.

It looked like I wasted my time to watch this video. Your video is favouring every decision made by the big corporations and you completely ignored the real message "The impact on our environment". I had to watch the documentary again to think about how can I personally contribute. Big corporations will come forward and will try to diminish the impact of that documentary. I know it comes down to every individual to take that responsibility and start buying responsibly before it is too late. We have only one planet to survive and I strongly believe that there will be a point in time in future when we will not be able to reverse things.

I understand your point around the last section on control more, and with the ending, more leading towards when they speak about what they encourage us to do about it, but I'd have to disagree about the way it was made, I think it was made in a real interesting way to more than anything wake us up to what is going on and the steps that happen, I think we needed that wake up call and it was done in a really good way through the AI going through the lessons. I learnt a lot of things and I think when they placed the visual pictures of all the waste pilling up in cities and when all the stuff was pouring through the city streets, that brought more perspective to what will happen if we continue down this road, it will come back to where we live and will one day be on our doorstep. I like the point one guy made where he said, it's not our fault, let's not put the blame on us but it is there responsibility, I think it was the guy for Adidas but he was right, I think the whole point of this documentary was for us to really see what is going on and to put the responsibility on the people who need to take it, it's the companies job to sort this out, we do out part of course but the problem won't be fixed just on our end, these companies need to pay the price they started. I understand why you think that way and it is a valid point, I just feel the attitude is not a good one to take, and possibly use this as one tool to do some more research and to learn what we can now do with this information and through our part with others. I got so much out of it and I was not expecting the surprise to be nothing, I was intrigued to see what it was about but it made sense once it was nothing, and it was all lies. I think it goes to show how much they manipulate us with the desirable things and it turns out to be lies, more lies and I think actually the point was for me, they actually want us to feel bad or be made fools, that's the only way we as consumers, those who are consumers can wake up to see this cycle we find ourselves in and get out of it, we can choose not to partake in it anymore, it will be hard but it takes small steps but this was really revealing for me. Our side needs to wake up from the cycle and make a change, focus on what is important, and the other needs to take responsibility to what they started, it is not on us to fix their problem, we make right what we do, consume and they do what they should do, stop mass producing garbage and making short term items and harmful products.

Great video Op. Ed! Totally worth the, less than, 20 minutes . You ought to seriously consider reporting for any reputable news outlet that’ll have you. It seems you really get “it”!

By chsnce, are you a journalist, or, a student of journalism? You could have a fantastically meaningful career in media studies, or journalism of almost any sort.
Good work

Yea, while the message is important for everyone to know, this so-called documentary is disappointing, lengthy without much new information.
