Fascinating. This current Damage CTRL vs. Pure Fusion Collective feud (as of September 8, 2024) is seeded in this match.
Shayna Baszler & her new buddy Zoey Stark facing off against the Kabuki Warriors, Asuka & Kairi Sane, of Damage CTRL.
These little tag teams led to this emergence of the trios that started to emerge in earnest this July & August.
The Big Three of Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Naomi was another sign of tag team duos/tag team trios forming.
Either they're already part of a stable like Damage CTRL or they're a tag team that adds an optional third like the others.
The Party Girls, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance, add an optional third with Lyra Valkyria since they have smoky entrances.
The Unholy Union, Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn, adds an optional third with Blair Davenport (Bea Priestley) since all 3 are witchy.
Sonya Deville recruiting Shayna & Zoey slowly over the summer led to the P.F.C. that ripped the "Heel" out of Damage CTRL once & for all. Damage CTRL is simply too lovable to TRULY be effective heels.
Sonya was a false optional third that became a permanent third as they create the Pure Fusion Collective stable.
And creating all of this heat around the Women's Tag Team Titles (which sorely need that heat) makes it intriguing for NXT since these belts are defended on ALL brands.
Hence we now see more trios forming in NXT like Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, & Jasmyn Nyx).
The seeds were being planted for all of this way back here in this March match. Amazing to see how it's playing out!
