Cal Ripken Jr. Catching the last out never imagined the incredible streak of games he would play. Think that record will never be broken.

Scott McGregor won 18 games in 1983 and would have easily won 20 if the bullpen hadn’t let him down in the last part of the season. He and Mike Boddicker really carried the starting pitching load when Jim Palmer and Mike Flanagan went on the disabled list.

There was a game in this series in which Joe Morgan tagged up at third of a fly ball -- and fell flat on his face as he took off for home. BTW, it is hard to listen to Howard Cosell.

Found this vid looking for some info about McGregor on his 66th birthday today (happy birthday!). Thanks for the memories of the first World Series I ever watched.

Read somewhere where McGregor was a very average pitcher. WRONG. He pitched a lot of big games. In 6 postseason starts his era was 1.63. Too bad his teams couldn’t hit.

Am a huge Os fan. What a great day.! Instead I went to a traitorous Colt game that very day and listened to Os on a handheld radio. Loved the Colts too. Heart ripped out and pissed on by Irsay.

Actually it was a sunny Sunday afternoon, the 16th of October. We were there in center field, on a direct line with second base, the pitcher's mound, and home plate. Two massive home runs by Eddie Murray and a homer by Rick Dempsey, voted Series MVP, and a traffic jam, Homeric (!) after the game.

Before Scotty MacGrager's whole game gem, I bought myself an Orioles jacket and could've gotten laid. What a sweet time.

I was six when I watched this game, and I’m still a diehard Orioles fan to this day!
