You need a trim button remover tool and a long straight screwdriver to get a couple of the clips further in using a flashlight. Don't need to pull that back trim off completely. Thanks for the video.

You spent time talking about the screws that are clearly visible but completely glossed over the part on how to locate and remove the clips from the tailgate.

Great video that helped me replace both tailgate-mounted tail lights...

Bought the car at an insurance auction. Almost every window was broken, both side mirrors ($500 EACH to replace) busted up, and ALL 4 tail lights bashed.

Replaced the outside 1/4 panel tail light assemblies pretty easy. Tailgate-mounted not so easy. 🙄

Short version... CAREFULLY (no metal screwdrivers, etc) remove the large plastic lower inside trim of the tailgate. Remove the (5) 10mm nuts that hold the painted metal piece that holds the license plate lights, backup camera, etc. THEN remove the (3) 8mm nuts that hold the tail light assemblies. Carefully pull out on the "pin" (license plate side of each assembly. Each assembly should come right out.

Connect the wires to the (new) assembly, turn the lights on to test the bulbs. Shift into reverse and have someone check those lights, too.

Reverse the process above starting with the (3) 8mm nuts on the assemblies. Line up the plastic trim and use your hand/palm to make sure all the white clips go in their respective holes.

Yes, this process is way more involved than it should be, especially if you only need to change a bulb.

Be patient, be careful, be persistent. You can do this.

Hi. So my nissan rogue sport 2019 the left taillight doesn’t work but the break and blinker does… where can I locate the fuse for it? Is it a separate fuse for each taillight or the same for both? The right one does work. I had replaced the bulb and it worked for a few months then it stopped again 😢
