TAKING YOUTUBES ADVICE, THIS IS A RE-RUN AND RETITLE OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES THAT WAS FILMED OVER THE INITIAL COVID YEAR.
A gardeners world; Nursery, gardens, propagation, plants galore and all the growing tips that go with them. A unique weekly documentary series filmed throughout 2020. A must for gardeners worldwide.
Informative, irreverent, funny and totally without comparison. After a lifetime in horticulture, Malcolm Hockham and his young team answer The Royal Horticultural Societies 2019 article that the industry is in crisis. Not here it isn't!.....Malcolms final full year on the nursery shows you why.

Week 29.....Not sure how we have got this far...especially given the peculiarity of the year. Nothing special to report this week. More of the same, it is a relentless process nursery work, It is impossible to get ahead, what we do and propagate is dictated by the time we have, and the time we can find. Its a short window here in the North of England, so week on week the work is repetitive at the moment. Therefore we rely on looking at plants for much of this video, as and when they do their thing!
I feel very fortunate as a business we are starting to make up lost ground after lockdown, however, there is a kind of guilt, that as we survive others who have built their businesses up through hard work, talent, and determination, only to lose them through no fault of their own. I worry there is a depression on the horizon......at least a beautiful garden can cost little but effort....It is the only comfort I can offer in such time. Good luck and good health to all. Malcolm

I feel like we should do another year, Malcom. With no pandemic.

The smell of tomatoes makes me think of summer vacation...I smell ‘em and get happy. You are 100% correct Malcolm about kids being separated from nature. I grew up in the south Bronx with only concrete, nothing green anywhere. But my parents would take us to the NY Botanical Gardens each weekend and we were able to get into a class that taught us how to grow veg. It was great and life changing. I HAD to get a house with a yard when grown up. And in one of those yards, BTW, I planted that variegated ground elder and it was a terrible spreading scourge! Took years to get rid of!

Dear Malcolm and team. Thank you sooo much for your wonderfull videos! I am a gardener from Germany and you have such wonderfull plants and trees in your nursery that i never can grow in my soil, because i live in the countryside beetween Hamburg and Dänemark and we have only dry, sandy and stony soil (near Wacken, the Heavy Metall Town). I love your humor, the bad language and your love and passion to all your plants. Here, t he nurserys with all the old wisdom and knowledge are gone and people only buy their plants at the supermarket and im Baumarkt. We have only a few tiny nurserys left here. I grew all my plants and roses from seeds, dividing and cuttings, and customers and visiters often will not belive that. And nobody will do the hart work anymore. What a shame. It is so fascinating to grow some special seedlings and get your hands dirty with your own compost. Thank you very much for all the joy and fun, that i have when i watch your wonderfull videos and stay save.

I loved the end! It is the way with budding...never truly easy, except to explain! You wondered why you have been selling out...check your ID, Malcolm...it is you. Well, you and the whole crew, and the beautiful, beautiful gardens you work on and in. Be thankful there is no bridge from the U.S., there’d be a lot more visitors than you’re having now! Pass along my thanks to all (camera, crew, swallows and dogs), for a lovely evening program. Certainly beats watching the news.

I think during lockdown people have invested a lot of time in their gardens and now have more ideas about plants they can add.

Great episode, lots of interesting content and many funny moments. I love Lizzys' plant descriptions, especially 'spready bastard' ... haha. Well done Thomas for all your propagation lessons....hilarious moment when doing your work Vera impression and a customer interrupts 😂 Many laughs with Lizzy and Thomas' video content 😆 Lovely to catch up with the Skinner family in Dorset, Sophie is a machine at potting, so impressive. I've never seen a dog eat Blackberries off the you are so adorable.
Amanda and Malcolm.... you are so funny together.
So glad you've been able to sell more plants than you thought you would Malcolm, like you say, it's not been the same for some other nurseries and that is so sad. Wishing you all the best and look forward to next weeks episode.

Malcolm, you already know this, but wanted just to say you have an incredible team. They really are the definition of TEAM. As for daylilies, I'm a fanatic. Love my daylilies - this year Southern Shiner was my favorite (Browns Ferry Heidi Douglas intro). And a very late bloomer - Late To the Party is quite stunning. Quick question regarding the Japanese Maples. The 21, 000 he mentions, will those be grafted?

Good to see all of you well. Thanks for the video; they lift the spirits. Was afraid you'd managed to cut some part of your body off Malcolm, when playing with the roses.

Great vid!! Good to see British growers are filling gaps with you guys. Upping the nibbage factor in this episode too! Nice tip on removing heartwood on the t-buds! Loads of seedlings at Barthelemy's! Do they ever select out seedlings to propagate on? With that many every year, is a wonder there haven't been any cool cultivars popping up! Stay Safe :)
