Hello, I had my dental cleaning today. The hygienist said I had the cleanest teeth of all her patients today. That made me feel so good coming from a hygienist. All the things I learned from watching your videos on good oral care are really paying off. Thanks Whitney 😊

As a dentist, I think it is most likely a personal preference. My wife, who is also a dentist, will brush thoroughly first then floss, followed by rinse. For me, I prefer to floss first, then brush. I prefer the last taste to be my minty tooth paste! I personally feel cleaner that way.

I just care that my hands are washed before my skincare and dental care routines.

I floss before brushing. I only wish I had started flossing sooner in life.

My family couldn’t afford dental care when I was a kid (seriously—my first dentist visit was 13 years old and we had to “skip” getting me braces). I am BLESSED that I’ve only ever had one cavity! Your videos are super fun but also super informative and helping me catch up on things I never grew up learning (beyond just “brush” lol) thank you!

My periodontist suggested:
1. Regular water rinse
2. Floss
3. Brush (I use a Sonicare 5100)
No mouth wash in evening but mouth wash during day after meal

I was recommended a water Pic as I am getting braces really soon.
I also had my teeth scaled. I will say, it is definitely worth the discomfort to have a clean slate to work with.

I’ve tried both ways. I have floss before brushing, and I’ve tried floss after brushing as well.
The difference to me, I think is that when I floss after brushing, I find that it’s a lot easier to flash for whatever reason, and I find that my mouth feels cleaner, and I can get the toothpaste in between my teeth.
I always scrape my tongue before I brush or floss, and that helps things a lot as well.
I think it’s so important to do whatever works.

I brush, floss, mouthwash. It’s what makes my teeth and mouth feel the cleanest.

Great explanation! I was going to comment how flossing after brushing wouldn't get toothpaste in between the teeth because I rinse my mouth after brushing, but you mentioned at the end to keep the toothpaste on... I'm a little OCD and would not be able to handle a mouth full of toothpaste while flossing, but ultimately I agree, as long as you floss at some point, CORRECTLY, it's all good! Plus as you mentioned, if people are watching this it means they probably are already taking care of their oral health so YAY! 🤗

Here's what I do...
1) proxy brush(dentek)
2) water floss
3) brush
4) floss
5) mouthwash.
And then my night skincare routine 😅

I flossed before brushing before this video and before even look it up on youtube. It doesn't matter which one you do just as long as you're doing it. Dental health is so good for your over all health.

Thank you so much!😀👏
I floss and use interdentalsticks twice a day after all I always use a mouthwash with flouride. In the evening I use my waterflosser too. I hope I will never get more cavities. Our teeth are so important. We can't live without them.

Hi Witney, let me help. The act of flossing helps to remove debris the toothbrush may miss thus it should leave a clean spot where the debris was. When brushing, even though the brush may not reach all the same spots as flossing, the toothpaste could. As the toothpaste is the protection and best cleaning item its best if it goes last. Also flossing may remove the toothpaste protection if done second. Its a small detail and in the long run may not make much difference for a person like yourself with a routine but for older people with less of a routine it will matter more. Always remember - flossing is removal while toothpaste is protection

I usually:
1) Quickly go through with a brush ( to take out some debris) and rinse
2) Floss ( following your tooth frame) to get the gunk out between the teeth
3) Regular brushing with toothpaste ( you are brushing the surface of your teeth and removing things that you removed with flossing)
4) SMTH NEW I've heard from a dentist! Don't rinse, but spit the paste (so you leave the toothpaste that contains fluoride which strengthens your enamel, and keeps that freshness longer).

here’s my routine

1. floss
2. wait 10-20 minute maybe even and hour or 2 before brushing
3. use the bathroom
4. wash my hands
5. brush my teeth
6. rinse
7. stay in the bathroom for 10 minutes whilst talking to myself in the mirror about how i don’t like using mouthwash
8. got to my room and talk to myself about how i haven’t done my homework .
9. the end

I admit I don't floss everyday (I'm actively trying to do better) but when I do floss I first brush my teeth really briefly, like 30 seconds, then rinse with water, floss and then brush properly.

I've heard more people say floss first but I can't get the image of brushing food back into my freshly flossed teeth 😭 so I brush quickly first to remove the bulk and then rinsing after flossing makes me feel like any other bits are spit out as well.

Sounds extra, but it only adds a minute tops to my routine. I really want to try a water pik too. I'd probably use it after flossing as a rinsing alternative before brushing properly.

Taking care of your teeth can be alot of work, but feels oddly satisfying. Like washing a pile of dishes you've been avoiding and then stepping back to see everything clean and in its place 🥰
