Carly Fiorina's Pathetic Business Record

During the debate there was a showdown between Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina where they attacked each others’ business records. It seems neither of them have much room to talk. Especially Florina. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"“How did she do?" asked Yale University management professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld. “Pretty badly.”...

All told, HP’s stock dropped more than 55 percent during Fiorina’s tenure as chief executive. The company laid off 30,000 employees under her leadership. Fiorina herself left with a $21 million golden parachute, having collected a total of $100 million in pay for her six rocky years in charge.”*

Update: HP will be split in two since they cannot keep up with other tech giants. Honestly, this is what you get when you hire someone like Fiorina.

This whole obsession some have with electing a business person to be president really gets me. Running a business is not the same as running a country. The nation is not set up to turn a profit. What's FIorina going to do? Fire half the states?

She made $100 million in 6 years for her performance!
I manage a business in NY, I employ 40 employees from cashiers to managers, you know how much it cost me to pay them in 6 years including my salary?
$3.6 million total!
This shit has got to stop.

To this day I do not understand the HP-Compaq merger. It was completely unnecessary and shows lack of creativity from HP execs. They were living with the old mindset that buying out competitors was the path to success.

I find Carly even more of a joke than Trump, why is she even running??

She's a perfect example of why CEOs are making more than they are worth.

If I got fired I would have been given an hour to clean out my desk, maybe.

At least she got one talent that will serve her well as President. She's a great liar. Isn't that half the battle?

A very near family friend of mine got laid off when Fiorina was at HP. Despite his qualifications and skill set, it took him years to find a new job.

If the measure of a "well run business" is based on how many employees you keep instead of fire, then the U.S. Government should be the most well run organization on the entire f-in planet!!

"These guys pretend to be in favor of capitalism,
but they're not in favor of capitalism,
they're in favor of socialism for the rich."

I had to listen to that a few times to let that fully sink in.
I've tried to explain why Trump is bad for the USA in so many ways.
But I've never been able to do it in 140 characters or less.
Thanks, Cenk. You're the best.

Where is the logic and business sense to reward a individual who preformed poorly? What kind of message are we sending where management can be ridiculously compensated when they have had a negative impact on the company. This is not business, this is robbery.

I was there and saw it all with my own eyes. Carly ruined HP, 30, 000 people lost jobs, and those just shy of being eligible to receive their full HP Pensions, lost their retirement  moneys too. She wanted to get rid of the burden of paying employees retirement pay and benefits.

How do I apply for a job at HP ? I can screw up too, with some effort. I'll graciously accept a mere 10% of Fiorina's severance deal. Thank you in advance.

I remember the Compaq-HP merger when it happened. All the analysts were saying "WTF??? This makes no sense. Carly, DON'T DO IT!!!" But she did it anyway. She is the George W. Bush of technology. Would she invade a country for no reason? I'd bet on it.

She received a huge multi-million dollar transaction bonus for the acquisition of Compaq. That is part of the$100 million. You are so correct how horrible this is for corporate governance.

When you search "why was the purchase of compaq by hp a bad deal?" in google, the first link is an article from Huffington Post. The title of that article is "The Merger That Worked: Compaq and Hewlett-Packard". I read a few other articles discussing the deal and it seems the long term verdict on the deal is split. As with most things, there are not simple answers.

Which means the debate between Carly and Trump was about who was the worst CEO.
