Whitesnake - Here I Go Again - David Coverdale - Cover - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy 4K

It's no secret that I am a huge David Coverdale fan. Of course, for those of you that know him, he is the singer of Whitesnake and previously the singer of Deep Purple.

The year was 1982. I had just joined my very first professional band. Not as a singer, but as a second guitar player and background vocalist.

For me, Whitesnake songs were almost blues rock, but the self-titled album Whitesnake had a huge arena sound and took the band to a whole new level. And their videos on MTV ensured this (oh, and of course, Tawny Kitaen)!

It was kind of around this time that I was becoming less and less satisfied with being a backup guitar player and a background singer and wanted to start moving my way up to the front.

I was 19 years old at the time. I say this because I didn't really start taking my voice seriously until I was almost 20 years old. But I also felt like in order to be in charge of my own destiny musically, I really needed to learn how to sing.

So I began my quest of taking vocal lessons.

It was painful, it was frustrating, it seemed hopeless, and in fact I felt like I was spending good money after bad, with a lot of very conflicting information, and vocal coaches that hardly agreed on anything, while most all of them couldn't even sing themselves to actually demonstrate their technique!

Nonetheless, I knew there had to be someone out there that could help me get to where I wanted to go.

After spending crazy money on singing lessons (and my wife and I sleeping on my mother's living room floor to be able to afford vocal lessons), I started to put the pieces of the puzzle together, one by one.

And believe it or not, one of my goals was to be able to sing like Lou Gramm, David Coverdale, and Paul Rodgers.

And… Drum roll please… One of those songs was "Here I Go Again"!

I hope after all these years, I did the song justice and that you can see yourself, should you desire) following your dreams, and singing what you love!

In fact, it is the very reason I formed Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy: to give you a lifetime of very hard to come by information that I found to be tried and true, to help you on your singing journey!

Ken is one of the few big 1980's voices that is still rockin' strong today.

Wow! What a gift you have. This use to be my fav song to sing b4 I lost my voice. While watching you sing this, my muscle memory felt all the choices you made & I felt that anxiety I use to feel, worried if those notes were gonna come out or not. I forgot what it felt like to be 100% confident with a reliable instrument, performing with not a care in the world. It’s like a huge part of me died. God I miss that.😞

Well done Ken! Here you go again showing us what these songs could have sounded like without the heavily damaged voices of the original artists. It really is worth it to learn how to sing correctly!

DAMN! when everything kicks in you just absolutely nail that energy! I have to imagine all the breakdowns and analysis videos have only helped to improve your already immaculate understanding of vocal techniques. That first "ROOAD" is sooo good <3
