I love the Dearborn community, and I'm angry, frustrated, and saddened by all of the loss of life, human rights violations, and apartheid system that has gone on in the West Bank for decades.

But it is clear that using the right to vote to "Punish" was more important to the majority of the community than using the right to vote to protect the democratic freedoms that all of us want in this country. So much so, they voted for the man who said Israel should "finish the job" in Gaza.

For the next 4 years, for the people of that region, they can rely on a US President who started a "Muslim Ban", has promised mass deportation(not excluding Muslim speaking countries) and in his first term cut off US funds to the UN Palestinian aid agency (UNRWA) and broke with decades of policy by moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Trump will allow Israel to take things from worst to catastrophic, and now with unchecked power, the community will finally have to learn the lessons of the civil rights movement. You can only use democracy as a tool towards equality, not as a way of getting retribution.
