Wisdom tooth extraction is basically a very simple procedure. Mostly the wisdom tooth which is impacted on the same side are removed on a single day. In rare instances all 4 impacted wisdom tooth may be removed on the same day. It is not uncommon for you to experience pain and swelling around the extracted area. It will last for about 3 or 4 days. Once the anesthesia wears off, you will be experiencing pain the night after the surgery. It is not uncommon for you to have a swelling around the extracted are a and a side of your face. You might also experience mild fever like symptoms because of the swelling. But wisdom tooth extraction does not by itself cause flu or flu like symptoms unless and until you had a pre-existing throat infection. Cold foods after wisdom tooth removal or any extraction is ideal because it gives a soothing effect to the extracted area and gives you some relief from pain. But wisdom tooth removal as such doesn’t cause flu. You have to take good care of your health after extraction. Have healthy diet and drink a lot of fruit juices. This will help in faster recovery.
