I've had a long history with Atari, from the 2600 to the 7800, the 800XL Computer, the Atari ST, the Lynx, the Jaguar... I love this company, the games it produced and the feelings it created. So... why do YOU love Atari?

Atari was my first console. Was actually playing some 2600 games today. Graphics weren't the best but has a number of games that are fun, competitive, and easy to play.

I'm probably a similar age to you so i feel the same way about Atari. Another thing is you're always learning something new about Atari all the time. They where such a massive company back in the day so there are so many stories.

Great video! Really captures what I like about Atari as well. Why no love for the speaker hat? 😂

Strangely, my original Atari 2600 (looks like the same model as yours), still works perfectly fine even to this day.

Great video! I love Atari too! I would never get a tattoo (nothing against people that have them, just my personal choice) but if I was forced to have at least one, it would be the Atari Fuji logo.

It's fine if you don't like the new atari i respect your opinion if your going to talk about things you don't like about atari i know most say don't take it personal because it's just there opinion if some love atari love what they are doing or if some hate atari don't like what they are doing but i know for me i love that i love and embrace both old and new atari i have nothing against this new atari and the new atari vcs since i had a blast i love what they are doing i'm a fan of the new atari vcs hardware i'm not disappointed in my unpopular opinion that's just me everyone is entitled to their own difference opinion i think there is no right or wrong us having our own difference opinion reason why i say that because some folks don't remember our opinion that attack us want us to think the same just like them and i know some do remember our difference opinion i think it's ok to be difference that what makes us unique i think the world be boring place if we all think the same i know that's not a world i wanna live in that's just me.

The original Atari brought the arcade into the home. Sure, it didn't look exactly like the arcade, but it felt like it.

Holy buttons you are just a wealth of knowledge about gaming! Have you thought about doing a YouTube channel on the topic? ;) Just fascinating!! I really appreciate hearing your stories and reasonings, especially how the consoles actually look! I wouldn't have thought of that tbh! Once again, I learned a lot!

I'm totally with you here! I also really love the Atari of the past. So sad to see into what it has turned meanwhile...

Greg,

I'm a big fan of Atari as well. My second console was an Atari 2600 (First was a Pong TV console). Atari had me until the Jaguar. I'm very happy you liked it, but it was the system that ended my relationship FOREVER with the Atari brand in the console space. I felt incredibly betrayed at the abysmal games it played. Aside from Tempest 2000, Aliens Vs. Predator and Rayman, Jaguar games were substandard at best and insulting at worst. I remember buying Trevor McFur In The Crescent Galaxy for $50 and taking it back that same day. What a pile of crap. And the more I bought Jaguar games, the more disappointed I got. I swore from that day forward, I would NEVER buy another Atari console ever again, and I kept that promise. I didn't buy the new VCS and I'll never get fooled again. I still have fond memories of Atari and am glad companies like Arcade1up are keeping their classic games alive :)

I'm late to the party watching this one, but I couldn't agree more. For me, Atari played such a major role in my childhood, it was basically an electronic babysitter for a good portion of those younger years. Between gaming on the 2600 and punching keys on the 800, these systems pretty much became an amazing escape for me. Not to mention, being the only kid on my block for the longest time, Atari kept me both busy and greatly entertained as well. Excellent video for sure.

If you're pretty handy with a meter, not to mention an iron, you could probably get that Atari working again. Console5 has all the goods you need.

Atari was neat but they bankrupted themselves in R and D then when they couldn't reproduce the 2600 success they released things like am adhd child on cocaine. The market was confused and moved on.
