Yes some minor, isolated swelling around the tendon isn't uncommon. Eccentric strengthening exercises - try single leg squats on a decline board. Although give it some rest for a week or two first and lots of gentle quad stretching

For the initial treatment (as it states in the video title) ice is helpful as it slows metabolism in the area which helps reduce inflammation. Ice also eases pain.

Yes patella tendonitis can become a chronic condition which lasts for months or longer. It usually causes very specific pain to the front of the knee, below the knee cap. It doesn't cause pain at the back of the knee so I would recommend you get it assessed by a professional.

Thanks for posting this video! It's really well put together and very informative.

Do what it says in the video! Rest, ice, stretch the quads then start eccentric quad strengthening

Depends on how bad your particular condition is and how much you rest and what treatment you get. It can be a couple of weeks, up to many months like Rafael Nadal! A knee strap or taping over the tendon will usuallyoffer some pain relief.

Rest and ice for longer. Continue gently stretching the quads and getting massage. A sports injury therapist would be best placed to assess your injury, determine exactly what it is and what is causing it and set you on the road to recovery

Still doesn't sound like patella tendonitis. The pain / discomfort is usually pretty localised to the front of the knee

I have quadriceps tendinitis/tendinosis now for 2 months, which is inflammation of the tendon above the patella; where patlellar tendinitis is inflammaton of the tendon below patella. First month condition was very bad, I could not walk, my tendon/leg became so stiff i could not bend it. It was not swollen, but it hurt like hell.
Treating with RICE it come better; after 2 months I can walk but still fell minor pain while resting. Massages are very helpful; do you recommend heating it now

I get this recurring every 7-8 months. I work at a computer for long hours and do some running to keep fit. Is there anyway I can prevent this from recurring? ie. Exercises at the pc? should i always where knee support when running? I'm laid up now with it. This time it occured after a swollen ankle, and i got this from sitting at my desk for long periods.

What type of exercise can I do for my legs with this condition?

Can this injury last close to a year? I've had this issue with my knee for months. At first it couldn't bare weights. Now it's much better but whole knee is tight and run behind my knee. Feels much better after swimming.

I was diagnosed by my phycisian for patellar tendonitis, I am wanting to join the United States Air Force, how could, if at all possible, cure the tendointis, I was planning on going to a physical therapist, but I currently make hardly any money after bills, any advice would help a ton thank you!

You mention ice but how does that facilitate the healing process? Heat increases blood flow. Ice does not. Ice numbs the area. Don't agree that it helps for a chronic condition. Great post otherwise though.
