I discovered an easy way of doing multiplication for higher singular numbers. (im reapproaching my working out as remembering does not cut it)
Using units as a base if the number is closer to the next nearest unit you can invert this to be simplified.
An example: 6 x 7 =
The numbers closer to the nearest unit (above 5) can be taken away by the nearest unit like so:
10 - 6 = 4
Then multiply it to the second number:
4 x 7 = 28
Then you add a 0 (or times by the next unit i.e. 10 x 7) to the second number in the question and take away the resulting working out above:
70 - 28 = 42
This breaks down multiplication in a way that eliminates the need to remember so many multiplication's by memory and if you forget it then its just more work trying to remember the answer to it.
Breaking it down below 5 makes things incredibly easy and if your multiplying by 5 you just x 10 and divide by 2 the number to give you its answer.

Remembering the working out vs answers to a set number of questions that is large is more efficent imo.
