Mulan's 'Girl Worth Fighting For' Is The Little Girl From The Village!

Each of the soldiers in Mulan discusses the particulars of the girl they will be fighting for, but Mulan doesn't have the same motivation until she is given a girl who needs someone to fight for her. The abrupt transition from singing to the horror of a massacre isn't incidental and suggests that there is a particular girl Mulan should be fighting for. Earlier in the film, Mulan returned a doll to a little girl who'd had it stolen from her, foreshadowing her role as the bravest Disney princess, dedicated to protecting the weak. While Mulan may have gone to war for her family's honor, the ending to "A Girl Worth Fighting For" fundamentally shifts her motivations moving forward, which gives the theory a lot of credibility.

It’s also great storytelling thru song. The previous song is all about being a “Man” & it’s then followed by Girl Worth Fighting for. The men sing about the “ideal women” they’d want to be with & treat war as if it were a game but the abrupt end to the song snaps them into reality. The girl worth fighting for is the girl from the village (your home village) add on top of that the fact that Milan is the first to beat the test of “manhood” in Be a Man & incident, just like you said, she is the girl worth fighting for. I think that her holding the doll at the end is the story’s way of telling us that she sees herself as the child but also sees the responsibilities she now has not only as an adult but also as a soldier.

Has anyone noticed that the doll looks like Lilo from Lilo and Stitch. And there was a Mulan Easter egg in Lilo & Stitch.
