Can we get video like best monitors for MacBook scaling?

I've had a 29" 1080p LG Ultrawide for a few years and I really like it, so I'm a fan of the LG brand now. The base is a lot more substantial too 😊

I've just picked up the Dell version of this (same panel) and the scaling is fine on my mac to be honest. I increased the scaling by one option and it's big enough and still seriously sharp with no perceivable difference.

I use a 29" FHD ultrawide monitor that cost $159. This is probably the cheapest and best solution to overcome the one external monitor limitation on the M1/M2 Macs. I will eventually upgrade to a bigger one with QHD but my workflow doesn't require all of the bells and whistles of the one shown here. Good thing too since I don't want to break the bank.

I love the LG Ultrawide monitor. One thing though, "THE PRICE" is scary to me. I'd rather go for the Eve Spectrum monitor (Spectrum 4K 144Hz or Spectrum QHD 280Hz). Both Eve Spectrum monitor options cost less than US $1000.

Went from the LG 34WK95-U. Immediately noticed the lower brightness in comparison but have since gotten used to it. I love this monitor. Expensive? Yes. But I don't regret buying it. I do programming and the screen real-estate is perfect! It's also great for watching movies and for flying on MSFS 2020. Only wish the monitor control joystick were on the side instead of the center. I use a Tobii Eye Tracker and it's meant to be placed centered under the monitor. It makes accessing the joystick kind of tricky. I also don't like that HDMI only maxes out at 50hz response but easily goes down to 30hz. I have an M1 14" MBP connected via TB4 and it's great at native res of 5k2k. I also have my Gaming PC connected via DP to an RTX 3090 and it also looks great at 5k2k 72hz. My work laptop is a Lenovo X280 connected via HDMI and that runs at 30hz when I run it at the highest resolution the laptop can support on this monitor which is 3840 x 1620. If I run it at it's HDMI suggested resolution for the Lenovo of 3440 x 1440 then it will run at 50hz which is still kind of slow. The 34wk95-U was 60hz all around. Either way, let's hope LG will somehow fix this via bios update, if it can even be done.

Good straight shooting review without waffle and fluff so many YouTubers waste our time with. I didn't have to FF anything. Great job.

Does this monitor also suffer of that issue where fonts get blurry due to MacOS using YCbCr instead of RGB?

The thunderbolt 4 ports are a big giveaway! Great job on the review BTW! Can't wait for your 200K!

I thought Apple would have introduced fractional screen scaling with the initial advent of Mac Minis given that they are a 'bring your own monitor' device and Apple can never be certain what monitor resolution you are running. (the display screen like alternative resolutions, is just as you say, fuzzy). This is another area where Windows wipes the floor with Mac unfortunately.

Sorry but people leaving their dock on the bottom visible while using their programs maximized do not understand the word "productivity".

I looked at this but went with the U4021QW - basically the same panel but better KVM/port setup.

how is the monitor holding up and how long have you been using it? I wanna get one really badly but reading some horror stories on amazon reviews is a little discouraging

Great review, I own the 40 inch dell and agree with your comments, the scaling is annoying but not really an issue. I absolutely love this monitor and love the size and image quality. Everyone who buys will enjoy, and never go back to a small screen set up.

I bought this monitor, but when I connect my webcam to any of the side USB-A ports, my computer doesn't recognize it. It seems the USB-A hub doesn't supply the energy for the logitec C920 webcam. Is my monitor broken or do I need turn on the USB-A functionality somewhere?

Scaling issue is really bad. Went back to windows pc after m1 mac mini. Still using the m1 macbook air but I can't stand theese blurry texts of macos because of subpixel antialiasing problem. 1440p and 144 - 165hz are the best value monitors out but it looks like a garbage with Macos. Really bad experience.
