I would love to know the story behind this beauty. I mean, this is no prison-shank. Very intriguing!

For those curious how a prisoner would be able to make a detailed blade like this or why he would even go through the trouble doing it was because this was most likely crafted in a Soviet gulag where prisoners had access to all types of machinery that was used to manufacture goods etc.

This would be a cool design for companies to use as inspiration, if not copy entirely.

Yeah, I don't know about the whole "prison made" thing. The craftsmanship on this, while not the best in the world, is too refined for a prisoner to have made with rudimentary scraps like they would have in prison. And, nobody is going to go through the trouble of making a shiv that complex. It would be a waste of resources for something you're intending on assaulting somebody with and/or having it confiscated.

Alright, that's rather epic, have a collection of oddities myself. Do you have any more information on this blade, around what year was it made? In what area was it forged? Whom was it forged by? How did you come across it? Thank you for sharing that beautiful piece of engineering with us all!🫡

Probably not prison made. They don't allow knives in prisons.
